After receiving a grant from the Town of Leesburg and a generous donation from Andy Shuckra and Brian Cullen of Keane Enterprises, a Leesburg art studio is offering 15 to 20 summer camp scholarships to students in elementary and middle school this year.
The Clay and Metal Loft, located in the Virginia Village Shopping Center in Leesburg, is co-owned by artists Amy Manson and Ann Andre. Last year, they were able to provide a handful of scholarships to students in Leesburg elementary schools for the successful program, according to Manson.
This summer, they sought to expand the number of scholarships and were able to secure $1,500 in grant money from the Town of Leesburg. Keane Enterprises then kicked in $2,000.
“We are able to double the number of kids in our summer arts camps this year in June and July,” Manson said.
The half- or full-day camps allow students to create using all types of mediums, including ceramics, oil painting, sculpture, metal and fiber, drawing and manga. Each camp costs around $180 to $200 a week.
The classes are taught by Loudoun County art teachers or professional artists.
“This is incredible, we are so excited to receive so much support for our camp scholarships this year. We are so grateful to Keane Enterprises and the town of Leesburg,” Manson said.
